We are Nathan and Laura, the husband-and-wife team behind Honor & Oak. What began as two interests growing along their own paths came together when we married in 2023. We brought our ideas, experiences, and hopes for the future together, and Honor & Oak grew from that shared vision — a family business built around woodworking, growing food and flowers, future apiary work, and the kinds of handmade goods we enjoy creating and sharing.

Laura has had a lifelong love of flowers and plants. That love grew even more during her years working for a wholesale plant nursery, where she learned not only about plants and how they grow, but also about the business behind growing and selling them. Today, she is often the one working in the vegetable beds and flower gardens, bringing in the harvest and helping decide what we should try growing next. That experience and love of growing are a big part of the foundation for Honor & Oak Farm.

Nathan started growing vegetables in 2020, during the early days of COVID, after seeing certain types of fresh food disappear from grocery-store shelves. It raised a simple question: how much of our food supply could we bring closer to home — in some cases, all the way to our own backyard? Growing our own food became a way to shorten that supply chain, learn where our food comes from, and have a better understanding of what goes into it.

The woodcraft side was the first part to take shape as a business. Nathan grew up loving the shop and later returned to woodworking by building things our own family needed and wanted for our home. As friends and family began saying that the woodworking should become more than a hobby, those personal projects — along with cutting boards, gifts, and smaller handmade pieces — slowly turned a one-car garage into a small working woodshop. That became Honor & Oak Woodcraft. The larger furniture pieces you may see in our project gallery are part of that story, not products we are currently offering for sale.

Woodcraft may have been the first branch, but it was never where the idea had to stop. As our two worlds came together, so did the bigger vision for Honor & Oak: a productive home and future farm, vegetable beds and orchard fruit, flowers, bees and honey, useful handmade goods, and a place where all of those things can grow together under one family name.

Honor & Oak LLC is that umbrella. Woodcraft is still an important part of who we are, but it now sits alongside Honor & Oak Farm and the other parts of the business we will add as they are ready. We are deliberately starting small, learning as we go, and building the systems and skills now that will let us grow without losing the personal side of what we make.

The name Honor & Oak reflects what we want the business to stand for: integrity, strength, family, service, and roots that deepen over time. Whether something comes from the shop or the farm, we want it to feel like it belongs here and like we were proud to put our name on it.
